Things To Know About Laptop Battery's Longevity

There are 3 main types of laptop batteries - Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Lithium Ion (LiON). They vary in price, weight and specific features. Lithium Ion (LiON) batteries are usually exploited in laptops of the new generation. These batteries have enough power to run laptops plus accessories, such as mp3 players, DVD players and USB devices. They are not that heavyweight as NiCd and NiMH batteries and do not produce any memory defect. If deployed in the proper way, LiON batteries are expected to run for approximately three years, but it is essential to point out that the three-year period of time starts when batteries are actually made and not when they are actually deployed. A battery requires replacing when the laptop cannot work any longer unless connected to the supply of electricity through an adaptor. Beneath are a few guidelines to prolong pc battery's life. • Avoid frequent full discharges, since this puts additional strain on a battery. Partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for LiON batteries than a full discharge. Recharging partly charged lithium-ion batteries does not cause harm, as there is no memory. Short laptop battery's life in a laptop principally hangs upon the heat rather than charge - discharge patterns. • It is recommended to discharge a pc battery to the fullest after thirty charges. Otherwise, the fuel gauge will get increasingly less accurate and in some cases will cut off the device prematurely. • Use cooling devices (readily available on the market) for the pc temperature to meet the requirements specified by the manufacturer. • Remove a laptop battery from a laptop when it is run on a fixed power. (Some laptop producers are worried about dust and moisture that gather inside the battery casing.) • Avoid purchasing spare lithium-ion batteries for later deployment. Pay special attention to manufacturing dates. Do not purchase old stock, even if it is available at reduced costs. • If you have a spare LiON battery, deploy one to the full and keep the other one cool by putting it into the fridge. Do not freeze the battery. For prolonged storage, keep the battery at a 40% charge level. Before using any pc, remember to read a manual supplied.
