Canada is full of extensive history, beautiful and diverse scenery, a vibrant people and culture. Over the past ten years Canada has witnessed a quick change and a colossal increase in interest both from tourists and property investors, mostly because the country became more market-oriented. As with most countries, Canada offers a wide scope of "home" options. Your choice will depend on several factors, including your budget, your space needs, and your desired location. Here are some of the living accommodations for you to consider: - A room for rent. Some owners of houses or apartments may let separate rooms in those dwellings. Still, the bathroom(s) and the kitchen are shared by all tenants. - A studio. These apartments are small-sized and were initially designed for just one person. Most have a single large-sized room – which contains a kitchen and a bedroom – and a separate bathroom. - An apartment. Apartments range in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms. They also have separate kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. - A duplex. A duplex is a single house split into two separate living areas, each area being fully separate from the other. But the residents may have a shared yard or driveway. - A townhome. Townhomes are small-sized houses which are built in rows, so that they form a chain. Most of the homes in the chain are similar in appearance. - A house. There are houses of all shapes and sizes in Canada. You may have a home built specifically to your specifications on a lot. - A condominium. Condos are essentially apartments or townhomes that are owned, not rented. Owners are responsible for all of the internal upkeep on the property and must pay property taxes. They also pay a condo association fee which covers the costs of outside upkeep, such as lawn mowing. Besides these types of living accommodation, you also need to decide whether you will live in a furnished or unfurnished "home". Furnished homes and apartments mean that all of the necessary furnishings are included in the living area, such as beds and chairs. Furnished apartments and homes may be a good option when you are immigrating to Canada from a distance, because transportation expenses can be significant. Nevertheless, most people decided on an unfurnished "home", so that they can decorate the way they want. Some unfurnished living accommodations will still include fridges and stoves in the kitchen. Also, keep in mind that housing costs vary considerably, even within the same province. By doing some research and focusing on areas outside major cities, you can save money on housing.
