Basically, the ESSAY is a piece of writing in prose on any subject in which the author purpots to give his or her personal view of material. The term 'essay' is originated from a French word meaning 'act of weighing' and came to denote 'attempt, effort or its product'. Hence, the essay is a trial or effort of a writer to illustrate in the written form any opinion containing general ideas of an author on a topic. Essays are believed to be endevors of writers to comprehend their own thoughts and to share their thoughts with others. Every day a large number of essays on different subjects appear in magazines and newspapers around the world. Moreover, the essay is a preferred type of advanced writing practice at school. Essays differ in size. Nevertheless, the average size of a school essay is approximately 500 words. In accordance with the style in which the subject is presented, essays may be classified into the following: argumentative, narrative and descriptive. The argumentative essay is a piece of writing in which writers bring forward their views or opinions and argue for or against a specified point of view. The narrative essay is a description of events sequencing one another. The material is arranged in keeping with the actual course of happenings. The descriptive essay is different from the narrative essay in the order in which facts and ideas are set up. It does not depend upon the real succession of happenings but rather upon characteristics of events or the author's set-up of the presentation. The essay has 3 major obligatory structural parts: the introductory part, the main body and the conclusion. It is worth remembering that a perfect essay is logical, coherent, clear and easy to follow. Here are some useful tips on how to create a clear-cut essay.
